Do you want a great career? Do you want to do hands-on engineering, design, and prototyping? Do you want to work with computer systems, electronics, machines, or construction equipment? Do you want to make a difference for you and your community? Consider joining the ETSE family. A degree in Engineering Technology or Surveying Engineering creates great opportunities and leads to success stories . OUR MISSION STATEMENT The Department of Engineering Technology and Survey Engineering (ETSE) mission is to provide a student-centric education through experiential learning to prepare students for a rewarding career. In particular, faculty work closely with students and each other to foster a family-like environment; unlike traditional engineering, core courses have labs with team projects and hands-on learning experiences; and graduates advance to enhanced career opportunities with competitive compensation . Our goal is to help students from diverse backgrounds reach their potential and become successful engineers, technologists, and leaders in the region and nationwide. Read More OVERVIEW With a focus on bridging theory and application, our programs prioritize the practical, hands-on implementation of engineering principles and methodologies. Students actively engage in designing, constructing, and testing systems through immersive exercises, interactive laboratory projects, and collaborative teamwork. This comprehensive approach not only grants students a holistic understanding of their respective fields but also equips them with the necessary skills to tackle real-world challenges efficiently. The ETSE Department provides an extensive range of majors, concentrations, and minors, allowing students to explore diverse avenues within the field. A wide variety of majors, concentrations, and minors are offered by the ETSE Department. We invite you to explore our website for more information on these programs! What is Engineering Technology? Engineering Technology focuses on practical application of science and engineering. The difference between Engineering and Engineering Technology is engineering technology focuses on application of techniques while engineering focuses on developing concepts. ETSE focuses on a combination of mathematics, computers, hands-on experience, and communication to provide an education that focuses on practical applications, career independence and responsibility.ETSE offers a variety of degree programs, minors and concentrations to choose from. With dedicated faculty and staff, students are given the professional and personal attention needed to help them live, learn and thrive in their chosen field of study. Students in the ETSE programs receive an education in the practical applications of engineering principles. Linking theory and application, our students are given the academic background and hands-on applications that give them the knowledge and experience in order to hit the ground running upon graduation. Students will have the opportunity to take ideas in an ever-changing world of engineering technology and surveying, and make them a reality. Hands-on courses, labs, and projects offer our students experience in both the academic and real world settings. To learn more, see the ETSE ” Presentation , contact us . We can meet with you on the phone or set up a visit . What is Surveying Engineering? Geomatics is a rapidly developing engineering discipline that focuses on acquiring and analyzing precise spatial information. Geomatics engineers use a variety of technologies such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Global Navigation Satellite Systems, High-Definition 3D Laser scanners, High-resolution satellite images, and Geographic Information Systems. They measure terrestrial and three-dimensional positions of points on, above, and below the earth’s surface and the distance and angles between them at a high level of precision. Geomatics engineers aid in the design of infrastructure including roads, bridges and legal boundaries for ownership. They provide precise data for natural recourse managers, subdivision developers, and coastal monitoring systems.
